Along with the mojito is part of traditional Cuban drinks. It is made with white rum and lemon juice.

Preparing a daiquiri in Floridita

The best place to take a daiquiri in Havana is undoubtedly the Floridita.

The Floridita

It is not known how this cocktail came about, but its origin is around 1800 and it comes from a beach located in Santiago de Cuba called playa daiquirí.

It is taken in a cocktail glass and is usually taken as an aperitif.

As Hemingway said, “My mojito in La Bodeguita, my daiquirí in El Floridita”.

Hemingway phrase


  • 45 ml of white rum
  • Ice cubes
  • 30 ml of lime or lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • Lime bark


1- Put all the ingredients in a blender and beat for 30 seconds.

2 – The ice has to be chopped and the rest of ingredients well beaten, but without passing, that the ice does not turn into water.

3- Put the contents in a cold glass and serve with straws.

4- To decorate you can put sugar on the edge of the cup. This is done by throwing sugar in a dish, wet the edge of the glass with lemon and put face down on the plate so that the sugar sticks to the edge.

5- You can also put a lime bark in the glass to decorate.
